Egypt Babylon Egypt: Moses The White Horse. Study 6

30/05/20

As racial violence is brewing in the US and the mission to decolonise religion is the subject of the day, we should always understand that by craft, the synthesis is soon to be realised. The previous past posts demonstrated a repeat of history as nothing is new under the sun, this series of studies "Egypt Babylon Egypt" is the history of the Seals opened in Revelation 6.Traditionally we begin unfolding of the seals from the first church of the disciples even at the cross, this is correct as Christ was the antitype also crucified in spiritual Egypt (see Revelation 11). Before we dig deeper into the study this Sabbath it's time for a little agitation. A purposeless person is a waste of space in the vineyard of God and many of us have been disabled by the enemy of souls, we might as well compare with the victims of the Nile or Roe v Wade. The curse of Meroz was his indefensible indifference in a crisis, it's not the length of days one lives that determines their productivity, Christ conquered the the world by the age of thirty three, so please let's not wait until we are a hundred only to testify that your greatest accomplishment in life was to be born, eating and drinking and then die. Let's awake and live a  life in contrast to a weed which takes out the nutrients from other plants, this is a call for you to impact your little sphere. All I am saying is, the time has come for you to arise and shine as God's light has come upon thee (Isaiah 60:1). God has called you to the kingdom at a time as this, there is a seed with germination principle planted by the Word of God, what kind of soil are you? If you cannot be a picasso in the work of art but only a janitor, then sweep and clean like Charles Dickens would do in literary arts, let people remember you as a janitor who did his best and changed his world and bore much fruit. Everyone has been given a talent don't hide it under a bushel.

Our scripture reading is taken from Luke 17:33 "Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it".

"It is a sin to be heedless, purposeless, and indifferent in any work in which we may engage, but especially in the work of God. Every enterprise connected with His cause should be carried forward with order, forethought, and earnest prayer.—The Review and Herald, March 18, 1884.

The book on the right hand of God in Revelation 5 is said to be sealed with seven seals. This symbolic description of Revelation of God in the past, present and future will help us understand the way out of this spiritual slavery. According to Haskell in Story of Seer of Patmos p.g  109.2 “The secret history of those on earth, between whom and the Father no being can intervene, is held in the right hand of that Father, and the Lamb alone is able to fulfil what is written within the scroll. The seals, opened, reveal the life of the church, the child of God; and beginning at the birth of Christianity, the seals extend to the end of time. Others may know somewhat of the life; but only the Father knows the environments, the place of birth, the inherited tendencies of His child, He alone is able to appreciate the character and to form righteous judgment concerning it”.

God always uses history to illustrate present and future events. In Acts 7:37-39 we are told: This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear.  This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and [with] our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:  To whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust [him] from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt"

So who is our Moses in these days of spiritual slavery. In our day, as of old, the vital truths of God’s word are set aside for human theories and speculations. There are many who are crying out for the living God, longing for the divine presence. Philosophical theories or literary essays, however brilliant, cannot satisfy the heart. The assertions and inventions of men are of no value. Let the word of God speak to the people. Let those who have heard only traditions and human theories and maxims hear the voice of Him whose word can renew the soul unto everlasting life.  - COL 40.1

Moses here typifies Christ. "Moses was a type of Christ. He himself had declared to Israel, “The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto Him ye shall hearken.” Deuteronomy 18:15. God saw fit to discipline Moses in the school of affliction and poverty before he could be prepared to lead the hosts of Israel to the earthly Canaan. The Israel of God, journeying to the heavenly Canaan, have a Captain who needed no human teaching to prepare Him for His mission as a divine leader; yet He was made perfect through sufferings; and “in that He Himself hath suffered being tempted, He is able to succor them that are tempted.” Hebrews 2:10, 18. Our Redeemer manifested no human weakness or imperfection; yet He died to obtain for us an entrance into the Promised Land".  - PP 480.1

And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.  - Luke 24:27. Here are some of the similarities between Moses and Jesus : (1) Decree to kill infants at their birth (2) refuge in Egypt (3) prepared by God for ministry (4) baptism of the spirit (burning bush/Jordan) (5) Gave testimony to set slaves free (6) Passover (7) Pentecost (8) death and resurrection.

And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see. And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.  - Revelation 6:1-2

To Moses was unfolded the significance of the types and shadows pointing to Christ. He saw to the end of that which was to be done away when, at the death of Christ, type met antitype.  - 6BC 1096.1

“By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompense of the reward.” Hebrews 11:24-26. Moses was fitted to take pre-eminence among the great of the earth, to shine in the courts of its most glorious kingdom, and to sway the scepter of its power. His intellectual greatness distinguishes him above the great men of all ages. As historian, poet, philosopher, general of armies, and legislator, he stands without a peer. Yet with the world before him, he had the moral strength to refuse the flattering prospects of wealth and greatness and fame, “choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season.”  - PP 245.4

In all who have been chosen to accomplish a work for God the human element is seen. Yet they have not been men of stereotyped habits and character, who were satisfied to remain in that condition. They earnestly desired to obtain wisdom from God and to learn to work for Him. Says the apostle, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” James 1:5. But God will not impart to men divine light while they are content to remain in darkness. In order to receive God’s help, man must realize his weakness and deficiency; he must apply his own mind to the great change to be wrought in himself; he must be aroused to earnest and persevering prayer and effort. Wrong habits and customs must be shaken off; and it is only by determined endeavor to correct these errors and to conform to right principles that the victory can be gained. Many never attain to the position that they might occupy, because they wait for God to do for them that which He has given them power to do for themselves. All who are fitted for usefulness must be trained by the severest mental and moral discipline, and God will assist them by uniting divine power with human effort.  - PP 248.2
