Ten days symposium: Your calling and election sure. Day 8
"Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall" 2 Peter 1:10.
Today in the United States they are voting to give authority and consent to politicians to rule over them for four years. Yesterday and today I maintain that Christians should not vote, Church and state should not unite, let the corruption of the world remain on the outside and brotherly kindness in our within, we ought to love the liberal equally as we also love the conservative. When God sees these people, he sees candidates for heaven who need a more important vote than this corruptible crown on the contest today. There is an election in Heaven which also happens daily is more personal and significant than today's US2020 general election which is prone to rigging and acrimonious results. Apostle Peter in his exhortation in 2 Peter 1:3-11, teaches us that our election by God to obtain everlasting life is through the redemption of our Saviour Jesus Christ coupled by our faithful efforts to "escape the corruption that is in the world through lust". We need to receive the insurance policy that entitles us to eternal life, this has been paid by Christ Jesus who paid redemption price for every soul. So then friends, we don't vote for anything, we are candidates for the election of God. "There could be no such thing as one not prepared for heaven entering heaven. There is no such thing as a human being sanctified and fitted for the heavenly Kingdom not having an election to that Kingdom. God elects those who have been working on the plan of addition. The explanation is given in the first chapter of second Peter. For every human being, Christ has paid the election price. No one need to be lost. All have been redeemed. To those who receive Christ as a personal Saviour will be given power to become the sons and daughters of God. An eternal life insurance policy has been provided for all" Letter 53, (1904).
I understand the fear for the future if either Biden or Trump is elected but we should also understand that it is God who "removeth kings, and setteth up kings" Daniel 2:21. No one will occupy the White House is God has not permitted. What if the person whom God permits to rule for the next few years is not the one you like, shall you like Nebuchadnezzar erect an image of jealousy of self exaltation? What do I mean, Nebuchadnezzar thought himself wiser than God and in his own efforts he tried to set himself as everlasting king but he was abased until he acknowledged God's supremacy. The violence expected when the results are announced or delayed has caused barricades to be placed around the White House, various anarchist groups have mobilised for their violent motives, certainly there is a lot at stake in this election I suppose but who controls the future dear friends?
The power exercised by every ruler on the earth is Heaven-imparted; and upon his use of the power thus bestowed, his success depends. To each the word of the divine Watcher is, “I girded thee, though thou hast not known Me.” Isaiah 45:5. And to each the words spoken to Nebuchadnezzar of old are the lesson of life: “Break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by showing mercy to the poor: if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity.” Daniel 4:27. "Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said, Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge? Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me. Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding...Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place; That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it? ...Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth? Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail..." Job 38
May the peace of God be with you all in these dark days, may His light shine upon us that we may see the future with different perspective. It is also my prayer that the events that are thickening all around us will waken our sleeping energies so that we may usher in the dawn of the brave patriots under the theocracy of God.
