Egypt Babylon Egypt: Summary of the First Seal for Ancient Israel. Study 27

As students of the scriptures we often see parallels in the scriptures which can be a basis of our doctrines and opinions. Some groups have recently used these parallels to suit their orthodoxy. The Theologians may have more educated analysis and critic of these apparent similarities. But it is my simple understanding that my history as an African is also chronicled in the pages of the scriptures, God's dealings with Israel has a direct application to that of the oppressed groups in this world. Someone once asked me to describe my perspective in regards to the appearance of Christ, I simply responded to say that 'I believe the scriptures totally and they teach that Christ was made in the likeness of man just like me, so He was black as I am and could be any race to another but His blood was sufficient as a substitute to mine, He is my personal Saviour'. The oppressors have misrepresented true Christianity and the scriptures but the same sacred texts exposes them as "man of sin" bent on colonization. True Christianity is decolonised in its nature and it's fruit speaks louder than hellish torches of false prophecies on many pulpits. "The secret history of those on Earth, between whom and the Father no being can intervene, is held in the right hand of that Father, and the Lamb alone is able to fulfill what is written within the scroll. The seals, opened, reveal the life of the church, the child of God, and beginning at the birth of Christianity, the seals extend to the end of time. Others may know somewhat of the life, but only the Father knows the environments, the place of birth, the inherited tendencies of His child, He alone is able to appreciate the character, and to form righteous judgement concerning it" S.N Haskell [Seer of Patmos p.109].
And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. - Luke 24:27
Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. - 1Corinthians 10:11
The student of the scriptures should understand that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but spiritual. This statement I have intentionally repeated, it is erroneous to teach that "Rambo" can be defeated by weapons of war, the children of Israel were delivered from Egyptian yoke through the glorious manifestation of the power of God. The Roman yoke was indeed heavy, but when Christ came, the spiritual deliverance was the greatest need. "Many look with horror at the course of the Jews in rejecting and crucifying Christ; and as they read the history of His shameful abuse, they think they love Him, and would not have denied Him as did Peter, or crucified Him as did the Jews. But God who reads the hearts of all, has brought to the test that love for Jesus which they professed to feel. All heaven watched with the deepest interest the reception of the first angel’s message. But many who professed to love Jesus, and who shed tears as they read the story of the cross, derided the good news of His coming. Instead of receiving the message with gladness, they declared it to be a delusion. They hated those who loved His appearing and shut them out of the churches. Those who rejected the first message could not be benefited by the second; neither were they benefited by the midnight cry, which was to prepare them to enter with Jesus by faith into the most holy place of the heavenly sanctuary. And by rejecting the two former messages, they have so darkened their understanding that they can see no light in the third angel’s message, which shows the way into the most holy place. I saw that as the Jews crucified Jesus, so the nominal churches had crucified these messages, and therefore they have no knowledge of the way into the most holy, and they cannot be benefited by the intercession of Jesus there. Like the Jews, who offered their useless sacrifices, they offer up their useless prayers to the apartment which Jesus has left; and Satan, pleased with the deception, assumes a religious character, and leads the minds of these professed Christians to himself, working with his power, his signs and lying wonders, to fasten them in his snare. Some he deceives in one way, and some in another. He has different delusions prepared to affect different minds. Some look with horror upon one deception, while they readily receive another. Satan deceives some with Spiritualism. He also comes as an angel of light and spreads his influence over the land by means of false reformations. The churches are elated, and consider that God is working marvelously for them, when it is the work of another spirit. The excitement will die away and leave the world and the church in a worse condition than before". - EW 260.1
The Book With Seven Seals Contains the History of the World—“And I saw in the right hand of Him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon” (Revelation 5:1-3). - 9MR 7.1
There in His open hand lay the book, the roll of the history of God’s providences, the prophetic history of nations and the church. Herein was contained the divine utterances, His authority, His commandments, His laws, the whole symbolic counsel of the Eternal, and the history of all ruling powers in the nations. In symbolic language was contained in that roll the influence of every nation, tongue, and people from the beginning of earth’s history to its close. - 9MR 7.2
The history of the wilderness life of Israel was chronicled for the benefit of the Israel of God to the close of time. The record of God’s dealings with the wanderers of the desert in all their marchings to and fro, in their exposure to hunger, thirst, and weariness, and in the striking manifestations of His power for their relief, is fraught with warning and instruction for His people in all ages. The varied experience of the Hebrews was a school of preparation for their promised home in Canaan. God would have His people in these days review with a humble heart and teachable spirit the trials through which ancient Israel passed, that they may be instructed in their preparation for the heavenly Canaan. - PP 293.1
The History to Be Repeated—Near the close of this earth’s history Satan will work with all his powers in the same manner and with the same temptations wherewith he tempted ancient Israel just before their entering the Land of Promise. He will lay snares for those who claim to keep the commandments of God, and who are almost on the borders of the heavenly Canaan. He will use his powers to their utmost in order to entrap souls and to take God’s professed people upon their weakest points. Those who have not brought the lower passions into subjection to the higher powers of their being, those who have allowed their minds to flow in a channel of carnal indulgence of the baser passions, Satan is determined to destroy with his temptations—to pollute their souls with licentiousness. He is not aiming especially at the lower and less important marks, but he makes use of his snares through those whom he can enlist as his agents to allure or attract men to take liberties which are condemned in the law of God. And men in responsible positions, teaching the claims of God’s law, whose mouths are filled with arguments in vindication of His law, against which Satan has made such a raid—over such he sets his hellish powers and his agencies at work and overthrows them upon the weak points in their character, knowing that he who offends on one point is guilty of all, thus obtaining complete mastery over the entire man. Mind, soul, body, and conscience are involved in the ruin. If he be a messenger of righteousness and has had great light, or if the Lord has used him as His special worker in the cause of truth, then how great is the triumph of Satan! How he exults! How God is dishonored!. - AH 327.1
In summary, the similarities between Moses and The Antitype (Jesus Christ) are profound and should not be ignored. Moses was a deliverer and so was Jesus our saviour, at Moses' birth Israel was under Egyptian bondage and similarity Israel was under Roman bondage. Other patterns to note included the forty years/ days in the wilderness, temptation, death and resurrection, law giver, death of infants at their birth, saved by Egyptians.... There are rules that should govern our application of parallel history in our time, not everything repeats to the very letter e.g. 1840 Josiah Litch writing in a newspaper regarding Ottoman empire surrendering to the Western world, his predictions giving a wonderful impetus to the advent message of 1840-44. Recently, by using parallels, a group has agitated that on specific date, Islam will use nuclear weapons to attack certain lands, yes it's absurd but many rules of prophetic interpretation have been broken. It will be well to give more details about this in future studies.
